AFRICADOC is a programme for the development of African documentary cinema, led by a French association, Ardeche Images, together with local partners wherever Africadoc is already implemented.
The aim of Africadoc is to develop, together with all African countries, a training network to meet the need of a new generation of documentary filmmakers, and to set up a network of professionals working in the documentary world. The call for projects intends to inform as many people as possible in the country about Africadoc initiative, to identify, and attract to best suitable projects / profiles for this programme, those for which Africadoc will really be profitable both for the project and the filmmaker.
OutlineEight young film authors/makers from South Africa will be hosted in a writing residency for a 12 days workshop, aiming to:
The residency will take place in Johannesburg at AFDA. One tutor, both writer and director, will mentor the programme. The trainees will be divided into two groups for a total duration of 12 full days.
The workshop sessions will be divided into two groups; the first week will host a collective study group coordinated by the head of training for each of the projects, while the second phase will entail a collective and individual analysis of reworked projects after location scouting of between 2 to 4 days, and final draft of the project in constant coordination with the trainer.
