CALL TO PARTICIPATE AT THE SERIES MANIA FORUM 2026

The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), in partnership with the French Institute of South Africa (IFAS), is calling for applications from experienced South African television series producers to form part of the NFVF/IFAS delegation to the Series Mania Forum, which will take place from 24-26 March 2026 in Lille (France).

Series Mania was created in April 2010 and has become the first international festival dedicated to celebrating innovative television series. The Series Mania Festival gathers tens of thousands of spectators and industry professionals each year and showcases world premieres of series from around the globe. Alongside the festival, the Series Mania Forum, its professional arm, brings together over 4,000 international television industry professionals for a three-day programme of conferences, keynote sessions, networking opportunities, and pitching platforms.

Opening date for submissions: 02 February 2026

Closing date for submissions: 16 February 2026, at 17h00

A maximum of five (5) delegates will be selected through this call.

Eligibility

This call is open to South African citizens who meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be classified as Tier 1 according to NFVF funding criteria, defined by the NFVF as:
    “Experienced filmmakers who have a proven track record for developing and producing at least three successful and commercially viable feature films, TV films, or documentaries.”
    Applicants with a strong track record in television series production are encouraged to apply.
  • Applicants must have television series projects in development, production, or post-production that are seeking international partners, co-producers, distributors, and/or financing.

Application Requirements

Applications must include the following:

  • A motivation letter detailing the applicant’s objectives for attending the Series Mania Forum, how participation will support the development of their project(s), and how the forum may contribute to future international or co-production prospects.
  • A summary of the applicant’s television slate, including the number of projects currently in development, production, or post-production.
  • Proof of ownership or rights attached to the submitted projects (e.g. copyright, option agreements, or chain of title), where applicable.
  • Existing co-production agreement(s), where applicable.
  • An industry profile detailing the applicant’s professional production experience, including completed projects, broadcast history, and relevant local or international recognition.
  • A company profile.

Selection Process

All applications will be reviewed for eligibility and completeness. Eligible applications will be assessed through a competitive selection process.

Selection will prioritise applicants who demonstrate:

  • A strong professional track record in television or audiovisual production.
  • Clear motivation and readiness to engage with the Series Mania Forum’s networking platforms.
  • Alignment with international collaboration and co-production objectives.
