Position:              Marketing and Communications Manager

Reporting to:      Head: Marketing and Communications

Job Purpose:

To provide strategic and tactical marketing and communication support whilst building and entrenching two-way engagement with all stakeholders. The role entails overseeing all marketing communication campaigns, planned events and activations, media relations and internal communication with the main focus on implementing strategies to promote the work of the NFVF.

Requirements:

  • Minimum B Degree in communications, marketing, public relations or similar
  • Minimum 5 years’ management experience in marketing / corporate affairs / communications / public relations / media
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent planning and report writing skills
  • Analytical and problem solving ability
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage budgets
  • Ability to work on several projects at the same time
  • Customer service orientation and strong interpersonal skills

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing:

  • Develop marketing plan
  • Conduct marketing research
  • Leverage off events and festivals to ensure the NFVF’s presence
  • Manage SA Film & Television Awards
  • Identify platforms for content to be marketed, sold and promoted (placement)
  • Identify distribution channels and manage a catalogue guide for accessing various content
  • Manage branding for all NFVF products, services and projects
  • Develop CI manual and oversee implementation of brand
  • Develop templates / architecture of channels i.e. website look and feel; newsletter etc.
  • Promote the SA film industry through NFVF activations
  • Manage applications for marketing related activities (to access funding for production and to attend film festivals)
  • Campaign management for all strategic objectives
  • Sponsorship strategy to attract sponsors
  • Scan and alert the NFVF to potential issues
  • Manage resources i.e. suppliers, budget and recon process; checklist management etc.

 Communications:

  • Develop and manage the execution of comprehensive plans for: strategic communication; issues and crisis communication; proactive reputation building and events
  • Manage traditional and social media
  • Writing and editing of all NFVF speeches
  • Research, monitoring, measurement and evaluation of communication interventions

Position:             Training Manager

Reporting to:     Head: Corporate Services

Key Job Purpose:

To facilitate training and development opportunities for persons, especially from disadvantaged communities. To be involved in the film and video industry, as well as ensuring that training and development support services provided by the NFVF are implemented effectively and efficiently.

Qualifications:

A relevant tertiary qualification with 3-5 years experience as a Training Manager.

Requirements:

Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the following:

  • Ability to implement a training and development operational plan
  • Advise on and administer the accreditation of in-house training programme
  • Manage the selection of trainers and trainees
  • Advise trainers on aligning curriculum with SAQA requirements
  • Liaise with the public around training and bursary offerings
  • Prepare workshop plans and budgets
  • Process, evaluate and manage all bursary and training applications
  • Ability to communicate Council decisions regarding applications
  • Manage trainer evaluations
  • Manage NFVF Internship Programme
  • Monitor agreed milestones and deliverables and manage payment process for training and bursary projects using Praxis system
  • Managing staff, administration and budgets in line with relevant legislations and internal procedures
  • Knowledge and experience in the public sector advantageous
  • Strong project management skills

Position:             Production and Development Manager: Documentaries

Reporting to:     Head: Production and Development

Job Purpose:

To ensure that all documentary projects in development and production are monitored, evaluated, completed and distributed.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in film & television, preferably a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in film & television industry

 

Requirements:

Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the following:

  • An understanding of the transformation challenges in the sector
  • Critical skills in the assessment and support of projects worthy of funding
  • Critical skills in the assessment and nurturing of talent
  • An understanding of the distribution and marketing challenges of the sector
  • A developed understanding of the business of film
  • A good understanding of production budgets, finance plans and schedules
  • An ability to lead a team of people in achieving institutional goals
  • Delivering all job related tasks timeously and to a high standard of quality

Position:              Communications Coordinator

Reporting to:      Marketing and Communications Manager

Job Purpose:

To coordinate all communications related activities, and to provide administrative support to the marketing and communications manager.

Requirements:

  • Matric
  • A post matric qualification in public relations / communications / journalism would be an added advantage
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in public relations / media / communications
  • Strong communication skills
  • Customer service orientation
  • Strong interpersonal and organizing skills
  • Strong working knowledge of digital media
  • Report writing skills
  • Experience in the media space will be highly advantageous
  • Be proficient in MS office (in particular Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines
  • Ability to work on several projects at the same time
    • General office administration

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regularly update website and all social media platforms
  • Analyze media reports
  • Administer research
  • Coordinate media conferences and briefings
  • Manage resources i.e. suppliers; budget and recon process; checklist management etc.
  • Manage the Resource Centre

Position:              Applications Coordinator

Reporting to:      Applications Officer

Job Purpose:

To coordinate and provide administration support to ensure the smooth running of the production and development department.

Requirements:

  • Matric
  • Minimum 2 years’ administration experience 
  • Knowledge of Praxis or any funding related software technology will be highly advantageous
  • Strong administration skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines
  • Customer service orientation and strong interpersonal skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the applicants database to keep records up to date and accurate
  • File all necessary documentation for ease of retrieval
  • Provide administration support to the department
  • Maintain an updated information system
  • Communicate any foreseen problems to the department
