Call for Documentary Project: 100 Years Of Nelson Mandela

The National Film and Video Foundation, an agency of the Department of Arts and Culture, invites all eligible and reputable TIER 1 and 2 filmmakers (refer to the definition in our funding policy) to submit proposals under the theme, “100 Years of Nelson Mandela”.

In pursuance of our strategic pillar of Promoting Social Cohesion and Nation Building, the NFVF will be funding the production of a one-hour television length documentary film to the total value of R1,500,000 (one million five hundred thousand rand).

Our single most important challenge is therefore to help establish a social order in which the freedom of the individual will truly mean the freedom of the individual. We must construct that people-centred society of freedom in such a manner that it guarantees the political liberties and the human rights of all our citizens.
Nelson Mandela, speech at the opening of the South African parliament, Cape Town 25 May 1994.
